2022 Real2Reel Filmfest Winners!
1st Place Winner: Aizah Ali

First place in the FLT’s Reel2Real video contest goes to Aizah Ali, for her time-traveling video about the positive impact of preserved open space on an individual’s life. It is not only a charming tale about a woman returning to a beloved place at different times of her life, her story also aligns with the most important aspect of the Land Trust’s mission, the value of open space protected in perpetuity. Aizah’s reel features some beautiful moments that are alive with the joys of family and friends as well as pleasures of just being outdoors in a cherished place. I especially liked one of her transitions, a very professionally done moment when a moving camera captures the subject aging from teen to adult. Nicely done, Aizah!

2nd Place Winner: Girl Scouts of CT
Troop 61102
The Spider and the Butterfly
Girl Scouts of CT Troop 61102's fanciful fairytale about the doomed love affair of a butterfly and spider is our second-place winner. The video features lots of kinetic action as well as imaginative costuming, dialog, and special effects. Excellent use of music to heighten the emotions of the climactic scene. Audio is always the most challenging aspect of video making and the uneven quality of the spoken dialog makes the story a little difficult to follow. The black and white coda adds a nice final touch. Good work!
